Pitzer College Core Value: Intercultural Understanding
Why is this important?
We are educated to better understand the challenges and complexities of a global community and transcend distance and difference.
What will my gift do?
Pitzer College is a diverse community of scholars, united in their quest for knowledge and justice, supported by programs that create new frontiers of learning on campus and in the community.
Gifts to the Pitzer College Annual Fund will foster our commitment to help students become conscientious global citizens who contribute their capabilities to communities at home and abroad.
In the 2012-2013 academic year, 153 Pitzer students studied in 30 countries and learned 17 languages. Unlike its peers, Pitzer prides itself on running its own community-based programs in Botswana, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Nepal. Pitzer College continues to be ranked number one for the most student and alumni Fulbright Fellowship awardees among national undergraduate institutions of similar size, in no small part a result of the distinctive study abroad opportunities afforded our students.
Through the Mosbacher/Gartrell Center for Media Experimentation and Activism, Pitzer’s mode of media production stresses “independent” narrative forms, documentaries and community-based and activist media. Students are also encouraged to actively challenge themselves through programs provided by the Ruth and Lee Munroe Center for Social Inquiry.
What are the potential outcomes?
By investing in the Pitzer College Annual Fund, you have the chance to ensure that future generations receive the gift of a Pitzer College education – the foundation from which they can transform the world. Now more than ever, the world needs what Pitzer offers.
